Note: The base camp for this tour is situated within the Tara Canyon, offering an ideal staging point for travelers transiting between Bosnia and Herzegovina and Montenegro due to its proximity to the border. Upon completion of the rafting excursion, return transport to the camp is fully included in the tour price.
This one-day Tara rafting arrangement is designed for guests who have limited time but still want the full feeling of the river. In a single day, you get the thrill of Tara rafting, a traditional homemade meal, and enough time afterward to continue your journey toward Montenegro or Croatia.
After arrival at the rafting center, the team provides all necessary equipment: neoprene suits and boots for cold water, life jackets, and helmets. Equipment is worn over a swimsuit or shorts, so bring swimwear and a dry change of clothes for after the tour.
Then we head out to Brstanovica, the rafting starting point. Before entering the water, skippers assign guests to professional rafting boats and give a short safety and behavior briefing. Waterproof bags are available on the boats for basic items, and GoPro cameras are recommended for guests who want action footage. Ask in advance if you would like to rent one.
The rafting descent covers 25 km of the Tara route and passes 15+ exciting rapids, including well-known sections such as Celije, Borovi, and Varda. Depending on river level and group pace, the rafting itself usually lasts between 2 and 5 hours.
Halfway through the descent, the group stops for a break and the famous cold-water waterfall challenge. Guests can also swim in the crystal-clear Tara River before continuing back toward the rafting center. After returning to base, equipment is handed back and warm showers are available.
The day finishes with a rich traditional lunch prepared on-site, using mostly organic ingredients from nearby villages. The usual menu includes homemade veal soup, fresh village salad, and veal under the bell, known locally as sac, with potatoes. Dessert is made from homemade pastries such as cherry cake, wafers, walnut pie, and cupavci.
The daily tour price includes the rafting transfer, 25 km rafting route, equipment, permits, taxes, and a rich lunch after the descent.
Each rafting boat carries 10-12 people. Larger groups are welcome; message us with your preferred date and group size and we will confirm the right number of boats personally.
